Just got another order from an existing customer purchasing more swing mats for their playgrounds. She made a comment that since they have been using swing mats, their daily labor cost for maintenance has greatly reduced. Many sites with wood safety surfacing should be raked out daily in order to keep them compliant with the ADA Guidelines. The swing mats have almost eliminated "kick out" which reduced time spent on  maintenance she explained...Cool . Repairing Sidewalk Gaps

Had a great response from one of our customers that I wanted to post about their experience with Fast Patch. For those who are not familiar with this product, Fast Patch is a kit for repairing damages areas on running tracks and rubber playground surfaces. Each kit contains the right amount of crumb rubber and binder needed to repair a 6 sq ft section of the wear layer on these types of surfaces. This particular customer's poured in place safety surfacing on the playground was pulling away from the sidewalk, leaving a sizable gap. They were concerned this people would trip or a small child could wedge their foot in the gap and either break, or sprain it. The gap was a liability and calling a contractor to repair it would be expensive.

This customer purchase a couple of Fast Patch repair kits from Discount Playground Supply  and let their maintenance crew attempt to fix the gap. Following the instructions, the crew cut back the damaged areas, prepped the area, mixed and applied the Fast Patch and were impressed. This is how it turned out

Needles to say it turned out great, they loved the product and they saved a lot of money by doing this repair in house.

Initial Post

Well I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Never thought I would have a blog and actually be excited about it, but here it is. My goal is to blog about playgrounds, parts and supplies, what works and what doesn't, and how to save money  running a playground. Sounds like a tall order, but I have been affiliated with this industry for about 20 years. Not saying I have seen it all, but have been around the block a few times and maybe, just maybe my experiences can be of value.
